  • Jane Williams Chair of Trustees – A message from our Chair of Trustees on how our Charity came about.

I was a Clinical Leader for Health Visiting working in Stratford District and belonged to a multi agency group called the 0 to 13 Development Group.  This group identified pockets of deprivation and rural isolation in the area and the huge need in the District for additional support.  The District was the only area without a Family Centre as they were then called and there were many areas with poor access to libraries and other activities particularly for children and their families.  So we set up the Parenting Project and the NHS Trust at that time agreed to employ the manager and found her accommodation in their offices in Stratford.  When we took on the responsibility for the Stratford Children’s Centre it was felt that the Parenting Project should become a charity.  I became a Trustee along with several others who had been on the multi agency management board and continued to manage the Chief Officer who was employed by the NHS.

As the Nurse Member of Stratford District PCG and then the South Warwickshire PCT I had the responsibility for commissioning children’s health services for the District.   For the last 12 years of my career I was Head of Children, Young People and Family Services for Warwickshire.  I have during those years fought tirelessly for children and family services and particularly for those services needed so badly in the South of the County.

Since my retirement I have continued to be a Trustee of the Parenting Project and also a Trustee of the national Institute of Health Visiting.  I continue to have a passion for early intervention and the need for services particularly in the first 1001 critical days.
