Counselling

  • About our counselling service

The Parenting Project counselling service is a separate service which operates within the children’s centres so that it is in easily accessible for families.
  • The aim of the service is to help clients explore issues they may be experiencing. Counselling can help with a variety of problems and can help when a person has become ‘stuck’ or troubled with their current situation.

The Counsellor will not judge you and will offer a safe and confidential place to share issues which may be affecting your life. Just having someone to listen to can help a person understand what’s troubling them. Counsellors do not give advice but can enable a space to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Referrals can be made through any health professional, or clients can self-refer at any centre; just ask for a referral form. For more information about counselling please visit British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) or http://www.itsgoodtotalk.org.uk

If you would like more information about our counselling service or you are a counselling student and are interested in a counselling placement with us please email Emma Tait at counselling@parentingproject.co.uk for an application form. We offer a supervision contribution, training and mentor support to all our placement counsellors.
